Spreadsheet File (.CSV), Unrealized Gains/Losses
The spreadsheet file (.CSV) can be used in spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel. Click Download and follow the instructions that appear on your screen.
When you download this spreadsheet file, you get the following information:
- Symbol – The security’s symbol.
- Security – The name of the company.
- Quantity of Shares – The number of shares bought.
- Share price – The price at which the security was bought.
- Total Price – The share price multiplied by the quantity of shares.
- Date Bought* – The date on which the security was purchased.
- Account Name – The name of the account for which security was purchased.
- Folio Name – The name of the folio that holds the security. Securities held outside a folio are identified as “non-folio holdings.”
- Status – The current status of the open tax lot—short- or long- term.
- Report Date – The date on which the report was downloaded.
- Current Value per share – The current share price.
- Total Current Value – The current share price multiplied by the quantity of shares.
- Unrealized Gain/Loss – The value of the capital gain or loss if all shares of the security were sold. Since these unrealized gains and losses are based on a last transaction price that is 20 minutes old, the amount given does not reflect the actual gains or losses you would realize if you sold your shares. Keep in mind that the last transaction may have occurred more than 20 minutes ago.
Note: Retirement accounts are tracked using the average cost method. Therefore individual lots are not tracked and purchase date is reported as the current date on the unrealized gain/loss reports.

Tax Software File (.TXF)
The tax software file (.TXF) can be imported to tax software such as Quicken TurboTax. Click Download and follow the instructions that appear on your screen. (With some browsers and operating systems, this file will appear directly on your screen.)
To save the tax software file:
- Right-click on the Download button beneath “Tax Software File (.TXF).”
- Select Save Target As.
- When prompted to do so, give the file a name that you’ll remember, with the file extension .TXF. For example, you might call your year 2000 closed tax lots, “Tax Lots_2000.TXF”.
You can then import the file into your tax software.
Information in Tax Software File
When you download this tax software file, you get the following information:
- Symbol – The security’s symbol.

The printable list for tax return (.TXT) appears directly on your screen. Simply print the list and attach it to your tax return.
To save this printable list:
- Right-click on the Download button beneath “Printable List for Tax Return (.TXT)”
- Select Save Target As
- When prompted to do so, give the file a name that you’ll remember, with the file extension .TXT. For example, you might call your year 2000 closed tax lots, “Tax Lots_2000.TXT”.

When you download this printable list, you get the following information:

- Date Acquired – The date on which the security was purchased.
- Date Sold – The date on which the security was sold.
- Sale Price – The price at which the security was sold.
- Cost Basis – The purchase price adjusted for any commissions or stock splits.
- Gain/Loss – The value of the capital gain or loss. The gain or loss is determined by subtracting the cost basis from the sale price.
- Total Sale Price – The dollar sum of all security sales.
- Total Cost Basis – The dollar sum of all security cost bases.
- Total Gain/Loss – The dollar sum of all gains or losses.
